Traction Control |

As you would expect with such a powerful vehicle, the Cayenne includes traction control, or as Porsche would put it "Porsche Traction Management (PTM)" don't you know! The Cayenne basically has permanent all-wheel drive, which can be controlled with an electronic variable centre differential. The standard split is 38/62 front/rear, though this can be altered depending on the driving conditions. The diff can also be locked for off-road conditions. Though be honest, how many people take the Cayenne off-road! For those interested, the Cayenne includes a 2 speed transfer box, other electronic gizmo's which help the stability of the car under acceleration, and to achieve better levels of handling & grip. Basically, if one of the wheels is about to lose grip, the electronic brain applies the corresponding brake, and then transfers power to the opposite wheel. If both wheels on one axle start slipping, the "brain" will automatically steps in & modifies the engine output etc. All very technical! |
